GTA VI pre-order tiers compared: which edition is actually worth it

Standard, Special, Collector's. Three tiers, very different price tags. Here's the honest comparison ahead of the June 25, 2026 pre-order opening.

The three tiers

Rockstar has confirmed pre-orders open June 25, 2026 ahead of the November 19, 2026 release. Three editions are expected based on Rockstar's GTA V / RDR2 pattern; final pricing is unconfirmed until the storefronts go live.

Standard Edition

Just the game. This is the only edition every buyer should default to. Rockstar has never gated meaningful story or map content behind a higher tier — the upsells are cosmetic and economic.

Special Edition

Expect a starter cash bonus for GTA Online (the inevitable post-launch online mode), a couple of exclusive vehicles, and a handful of cosmetic items. Worth it only if you're certain you'll grind Online from day one.

Collector's Edition

Physical: steelbook, art book, map, branded merch. Digital: everything in Special plus a vanity vehicle skin or two. Worth it for collectors. Not worth it for the in-game extras alone.

Our recommendation

Pre-order the Standard unless you have a clear pattern of playing GTA Online for 500+ hours per release. The "exclusive vehicles" in past Rockstar Special Editions have all eventually come to the general game.

Status: Tier names and exact contents are unconfirmed — Rockstar has not posted the official pre-order page as of publication. This article will be rewritten the moment pre-orders open on June 25.
