Within hours, the listing was pulled — and a trusted Rockstar-adjacent insider plus Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had both pushed back. With pre-orders opening June 25, here's what is actually substantiated and what isn't.

What the leak claimed
The Portuguese retailer page — captured before takedown — listed five SKUs:
1. Standard Edition — €99.99 2. Deluxe Edition — €109.99 3. Special Edition — €114.99 4. Premium Edition — €119.99 5. Collector's Edition — €124.99
If accurate at face value, that would put GTA VI in the same price tier as Mario Kart World and well above the $69.99 baseline most AAA console games have held since 2020.
Why insiders are skeptical
A well-sourced industry insider told Metro the retailer's numbers are "placeholder pricing" — common when stores need to flip a product page live before publisher-approved MSRPs are syndicated. The same insider noted Take-Two has historically asked retailers to pull listings that go live early, exactly as happened here.
What Take-Two has said publicly
CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly told investors and press that Take-Two prices its games "appropriately" and has dodged direct $100 questions on every recent earnings call. He has not confirmed a $99/€99 price.
What we'll know on June 25
When pre-orders open on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and at retail on June 25, the prices on Rockstar's own GTA VI product page will be the only numbers that matter. Until then, treat every leaked figure — including this one — as unverified.
